Terms & Conditions
The terms below govern every private expedition booked with Eagle Ray Expeditions. Please read them before confirming a trip.
This page is a working draft. Final wording is pending review by Eagle Ray Expeditions before the site goes live.
1. Booking & Confirmation
A booking is confirmed once Eagle Ray Expeditions has agreed on dates, route, guest count, and boat with you — typically over WhatsApp or email — and the deposit described below has been received. Availability is not held until the deposit is paid.
2. Payment
A deposit of 30% of the total trip cost is due at booking to secure your dates and boat. The remaining balance is due no later than 14 days before departure. For bookings made within 14 days of departure, full payment is due at booking. Accepted payment methods are confirmed directly with Thibault at the time of booking.
3. Cancellations & Refunds
- Cancellations made 30+ days before departure: full refund of amounts paid, minus the deposit.
- Cancellations made 14–29 days before departure: 50% of amounts paid are refunded.
- Cancellations made less than 14 days before departure: no refund, except where required by law.
- If Eagle Ray Expeditions cancels a trip (including for weather or safety reasons), guests receive a full refund or the option to reschedule.
4. Weather, Safety & Captain's Authority
Every expedition is led by a licensed skipper whose decisions on routing, anchorages, and activities are final. Itineraries adapt to wind, swell, visibility, and other safety conditions, and may change at any point before or during the trip — safety always outranks the original plan. No refund is owed for itinerary changes made for safety reasons.
5. Guests Onboard
Guests are expected to follow the crew's safety briefings and instructions at all times. Parents and guardians remain responsible for children in their care throughout the trip; the crew keeps a close eye during activities and briefs every family on boat safety before departure. Eagle Ray Expeditions reserves the right to end a trip early, without refund, in cases of guest behavior that endangers the safety of the vessel, crew, or other guests.
6. Health, Fitness & Activities
Guests should disclose any medical conditions, mobility limitations, or concerns relevant to sailing, snorkeling, diving, or watersports before departure, so the crew can plan accordingly. Optional activities (diving, kitesurfing, freediving, etc.) are offered à la carte and may require separate waivers, certifications, or insurance depending on the activity.
7. Liability & Insurance
Sailing and ocean activities carry inherent risk. Eagle Ray Expeditions and its crew take reasonable and industry-standard precautions for guest safety, but guests participate at their own risk. We strongly recommend guests carry their own travel and activity insurance covering water sports, trip cancellation, and medical evacuation.
8. Photography & Media
Our crew may capture photo or video during your trip for your own memories. These are only shared publicly with your explicit permission — if you're comfortable being featured, our storytelling crew may ask separately. Otherwise, your trip stays entirely private.
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Mexico, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights guests may have under the laws of their own country of residence.
